On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to this landmark symposium, in celebration of 40 years of paediatric surgery in Singapore.
This half-day programme will feature 4 plenary talks by renowned international speakers covering the breadth of key themes in paediatric surgery, looking back over the progress of this discipline over the last half century, and casting vision towards the future of these respective domains in the decades ahead.
To commemorate this milestone in the establishment of paediatric surgery as a discipline in Singapore, we will also take a brief walk down memory lane, with some of the pioneers of paediatric surgery in Singapore recounting significant achievements and developments in paediatric surgery in Singapore and the region.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, we will be welcoming colleagues and friends from our vast network around the Asia Pacific region, with the meeting schedule timed specifically to suit this time zone.

BACKGROUND
To mark the historical milestone of 40 years of paediatric surgery in Singapore, the Chapter of Paediatric Surgeons, Academy of Medicine Singapore, with the support of the SingHealth Duke NUS Surgery Academic Clinical Programme will be organizing a Commemorative Symposium in Paediatric Surgery on 13 Nov 2021.
This symposium will provide a review of key landmark developments in various domains of paediatric surgery over the past decades and discuss future directions, through a series of plenary talks by renowned international experts.
As this commemorative symposium is being held in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of paediatric surgery in Singapore, senior local faculty will also present and recount significant milestones in the journey of paediatric surgery in Singapore and the region.
